How to sign a document online
- 1Drop the document. PDF, JPG and PNG all work. A phone photo of a paper page is fine.
- 2Draw your signature with your finger, mouse or pen.
- 3Place it on the line. Add your printed name and the date with the buttons above the page.
- 4Download the signed PDF. On a phone, the brown bar at the bottom does it in one tap.
Documents people sign here every day
Anything that ends in a signature line works. These are the most common.
- Rental applications, leases and move-in checklists
- Job offers, contractor agreements and onboarding forms
- NDAs, quotes and purchase orders from a supplier
- School permission slips and medical consent forms
- Receipts, delivery notes and bills of sale
A Word or Google Docs file signs the same way once it is a PDF. Our guides for Word and Google Docs show the export.
Proof that the document did not change
Leave «Add signature certificate» checked. The signed PDF gets a last page with your name, the date and the SHA-256 fingerprint of the original.
Keep the original next to the signed copy. The signature checker compares both files and tells you whether the original changed.
Private by design
The document is opened, signed and saved inside your browser. It never travels to a server. Close the tab and it is gone from the page.
Is a signed PDF legally valid?
Yes, in most cases. In the US the ESIGN Act and state UETA laws give electronic signatures the same effect as ink.
The Philippines, India and the UK have their own electronic signature laws. Contracts, forms and receipts signed this way hold up in all of them.
Some documents still need ink or a notary. Wills, many powers of attorney and real estate deeds are the usual examples. Our guide to wet signatures lists them.
When someone else has to sign
Send the PDF from a free SignSolú account. The other person gets a link by WhatsApp or email.
They open it on their phone and tap the brown bar that says «Sign as …». You get the PDF back with a certificate that SignSolú timestamps. Your first ten documents are free.
